About the Zero Waste Summit 2010

Increased material and energy consumption in the globe’s industrialized nations coupled with an inadequate and unsustainable waste management system means Governments, Businesses, and Individuals now have to rapidly put into practice new measures to achieve a responsible, closed loop and sustainable solution in waste recycling. Waste was once seen as a burden to our communities and industries. However shifting attitudes on climate change now identify Waste as a valuable resource which demands a responsible solution in nurturing and management.

The Hon Peter Garrett AM, MP, Recorded address,
Zero Waste Summit, 30 November 2009

With sustainability now at the forefront of importance to consumers and businesses it is essential to be aware of changing policy and regulations, industry standards, best practice and new opportunities.

The Zero Waste Summit 2010 builds on the success from the inaugural summit in November / December 2009.  During the Summit a capacity audience was treated to a full programme featuring representation from: Federal and local governments / waste and recycling industries / international keynotes / private sector case studies / NGO’s / industry commentators / panel discussions.  Key topics / initiatives & new technologies were presented providing critical information on the opportunities and challenges the Australian waste and recycling industry faces.

Having conducted a very detailed online post Summit evaluation survey, 62% of the attending delegates expressed keys areas of interest in incorporating a responsible, closed loop and sustainable solution in resource recovery into their organisation.  This information has been applied into the construction of the 2010 summit and will offer future delegates the most comprehensive, practical and beneficial programme in Zero Waste management in Australia.

What's next?

The Zero Waste Summit 2010 will be held over three days in Sydney and incorporates an International presence on Day One.  Zero Waste Australia once again will provide valuable input into the programme as well as leveraging overseas contacts within the Zero Waste International Alliance to give the Summit an international best practice perspective.

An ambitious and exciting programme featuring the following will ensure these are three days you won’t want to miss…:

  • 4 industry streams including: a) Organics; b) Education: c) Technology (recycling); d) Renewable Energy
  • Local and international plenary speeches
  • Industry experts and consultants
  • Industry case studies
  • Panel sessions & roundtables
  • Networking opportunities
  • Full exhibition area

Attend the Zero Waste Summit 2010 and seek out the answers to what has changed, why it is happening and what is forecast for the future in Australia as we embark into a new era of Zero Waste management.
