The Hon Terry Mulder MP
State Minister for Roads, Victoria

Terry was elected to the Victorian Parliament in 1999 as the Member for Polwarth.

He is currently the Minister for Public Transport & Minister for Roads.

Terry held the position of Shadow Minister for Public Transport and Roads from November 2002 until November 2010 which included the responsibility of Ports up until November 2006 and Shadow Minister for Water from August 2002 until November 2002.

He has served as a member of the Parliamentary all party Road Safety Committee and in the past was involved in the Environment & Natural Resources Committee; the Liberal Party Sport, Youth and Recreation Committee and the Racing Committee.

Before entering Parliament, Terry was the Managing Director of a property maintenance company that operated throughout Victoria. Terry also worked as a Senior Consultant for Industry Specific Quality Assurance Services developing business management systems that comply with the Australian Standards and qualified as a Quality Assurance Auditor. He also ran a small beef farm and trained racehorses from his property outside Colac.

Prior to his entry into the commercial world, Terry spent ten years in the public Sector. His working career started at the age of twelve when he worked as a rouseabout on a sheep property in the Western District. Terry is married to Susanne, has three children and is also a proud grandfather.

   

Emma Thomas
Chief Operations Officer
Department of Transport and Main Roads Queensland

Emma is the Chief Operations Officer for the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) in Queensland.

With over 20 years experience in operations, maintenance, project management and logistics support, Emma previously was General Manager for RoadTek. Prior to joining TMR she worked with the Boeing Company, as Vice President International Alliances, Europe and the United Arab Emirates.

Emma held a number of other senior leadership positions in the operations and maintenance areas of Boeing and she spent several years as an engineer in the Royal Australian Air Force.

Emma is a Graduate AICD, Fellow AIM, holds a Masters of Science, a post graduate Diploma Management (Technology), a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Aeronautical and an Advanced Diploma of Project Management and was recognised as an exceptional leader at the AIM 2008 Management Excellence Awards.

She has a strong commitment to safety standards, training and environmental health and safety. Emma also values her people – she likes to empower them to create better customer service and innovative ways of working smarter.

Beyond her work life Emma enjoys running, cycling and competing in triathlons.

   

David Clements
General Manager
Southern Way

David Clements is Southern Way's General Manager. He has over 15 years experience in the construction industry and has gathered experience on a diverse range of construction projects including high rise buildings, processing plants and large scale transport infrastructure projects in both green and brown field environments.

David spent seven years working in Asia on building and civil construction engineering projects prior to moving back to Australia where he has led teams on significant complex projects such as the Southern Cross Station redevelopment. For the two years prior to his involvement in the Peninsula Link Project David focused on the development and submission of major civil engineering and construction bids for Government Projects including the development of strategies for the delivery of these projects. David has had extensive exposure to a broad range of project delivery models including managing contractor, design and construct, EPC, alliances and public private partnerships.

David joined the Southern Way project team in March 2010 after 13 years with the Leighton Group. He will lead the team through the delivery phase of the project.

   

Steve Cornish
Alliance Manager
Tulla Sydney Alliance

Steve is currently Alliance Project Manager on the $645M Tulla Sydney Alliance. This 10km upgrade of the M80 Western Ring Road is VicRoads largest ever alliance. Prior to this Steve worked on the complex $594M West Gate Freeway Alliance, also in Victoria. Originally from the UK, Steve has now been in Australia for 6 years. His 20 year experience covers a number of UK sectors and includes projects like the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, the new Terminal 5 at Heathrow, as well various works in the water sector. He is a strong advocate of relationship contracting, having been involved in a variety of Alliance style projects since 1997.

   

The Hon Warren Truss MP
Leader of the Nationals
Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and Transport

Warren Truss is a third generation farmer from the Kumbia District near Kingaroy, Queensland.  He entered Federal Parliament in March 1990 as a National Party member representing the electorate of Wide Bay.

Following the Coalition Government’s election defeat in 2007, he was elected Federal Parliamentary Leader of The Nationals.  He is also Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and Transport.  

Mr Truss was a Minister in the Howard Coalition Government for 10 years.

He was appointed Minister for Customs and Consumer Affairs in October 1997, and a year later, Minister for Community Services.  In July 1999 he assumed the position of Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, where he served for six years.  He became Minister for Transport and Regional Services in July 2005 and in September 2006 Minister for Trade.

Before entering Parliament, Warren was a Kingaroy Shire Councillor from 1976 to 1990, including seven years as Mayor.  He served as President of the Burnett District Local Government Association and as Chairman of the Fraser Coast-South Burnett Regional Tourism Board.  He was Deputy Chairman of the Queensland Grain Handling Authority and a member of the State Council of the Queensland Graingrowers’ Association. 

Mr Truss is a former State and National President of the Rural Youth Organisation.
